The Virtual Library aims to build a corpus of digital documents, copyright free, from archives, libraries and museums, public or private collections, in France and abroad, related to Mediterranean countries.

After the location, inventory, selection and digitization of the pertinent documents, they will be accessible to everyone through this online database.

To date, the library provides direct access to over 500,000 documents: photographs, maps, book pages, manuscripts and archives. By the end of the project MANUMED, there will be access to over one million digital files from over 100 institutions of Mediterranean countries.

This tool provides a great platform for collaborative work between researchers and academics but also for the general public in all regions involved in the project.
